The Top 10 finalist of the AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search 2015 will be presenting their design collection at the KL Fashion Week ready to Wear Runway. As part of the airline’s continuous effort in youth and talent development, AirAsia launched this designer search to provide a platform for young aspiring designers to showcase their talents and catapult them into the fashion industry through a strategic collaboration with the KL Fashion Week Ready To Wear team.
The designer search received an overwhelming nearly 350 submissions from young aspiring fashion students and designers nationwide and a total of 62 designers were shortlisted to present their inspiration and sketches to the panel of judges which consists of Aireen Omar, CEO of AirAsia Berhad; Andrew Tan, Founder of KLFW RTW; fashion industry heavyweights Khoon Hooi and Jovian Mandagie as well as Khairul Abidin Ishak, Editor of EH! Magazine.
The Top 10 finalists were selected based on their originality, creativity, design, stage presentation and consistency in their proposed collection.
The Top 10 finalists are: Shazmin Hashim, Syamil Fazwan and Muhammad Nur Hazimin, from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Lee Bao En from UCSI University; Liew Suet Yi, Ong Pei Yin, and Ter Mei Ching from Esmod Kuala Lumpur The One Academy; Nur Irsalina Sulzaily from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology; as well as Andy Yeo Kai Seh and Foo Yee Ming from Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA).
Three best designers will be revealed at the grand finale of this search and claim the title of ‘AirAsia’s Most Promising Designer 2015’, along with other prizes which include AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search trophy, return flights to Tokyo, Sydney and Hong Kong; up to 60,000 AirAsia BIG Points each, a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 laptop each, opportunity to showcase a full collection at KL Fashion Week RTW 2016, a chance to be part of other Fashion Weeks in the region and more.
Fashion designers from around the region will also be flown in by AirAsia to be part of KLFW RTW2015, and this will also provide the 10 young designers with an opportunity to meet and learn from them.
AirAsia has been involved in numerous talent and youth development initiatives by creating opportunities and providing the platform to achieve success, recognize their own strengths and potential.
