Earlier this year, we begin to see that Saudi Arabia is slowly, yet surely, peeling back its reservedness. For a country that has been continuously treating its women as second-class citizens, this is a refreshing release for women that have had a lot of their movements restricted. In more recent news, Saudi women are now allowed to travel without a male relative’s permission—a greater blow to the country’s antiquated guardianship system.
