#2 Ursula Von Der Leyen
The President of the European Commission was the longest-serving member in Angela Merkel’s cabinet (from 2005 to 2019). Now, she has a path of her own to continue with. Moving forward from her previous post as Defense Minister of Germany, there will definitely be challenges ahead. One of her missions is to overcome the division between the Continent state members and the European Parliament. She is also initiating steps to deal with climate protection and better equality for women. Her democratic views have not endeared her to high ranking traditionalists like Pope Francis – both have differing opinions about the rights of gay couples to adopt a child. While many have questioned if Von Der Leyen will be able to triumph in the face of these challenges, we believe her initiatives will benefit the people and she will receive their support.
