#7 Sandra Oh
Some of us may have grown up watching Sandra as the ambitious Dr Chistina Yang in the hit medical series, Grey’s Anatomy. Her chemistry with the lead character Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeo, became one of the focal points of the series. Sandra has won five consecutive Emmy nominations, a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a series and a Screen Actor’s Guild award for Outstanding Performance by a female in a drama series. Despite being
recognized for her acting skills, getting lead roles continued to evade Sandra. When she finally won the lead for BBC America’s spy drama series, Killing Eve, playing British Intelligence agent Eve Polastri, Sandra couldn’t believe it. She told Buzzfeed News that when she initially read the script, she didn’t realize she was being considered for the (lead) role. The 47-year-old Korean-Canadian actress said in an interview:”I didn’t even assume when being offered something that I would be one of the central storytellers. After being told to see things a certain way for decades, you realize, “Oh my god! They brainwashed me!’” In 2018, Sandra won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a drama Emmy for her outstanding performance in that role.
