“Yo I’mma let you finish, but…” Not afraid to defy the norm with interrupting stage speeches, Yeezy has upped the controversial ante again, this time with his new video Famous that features a list of celebrities and stars, including Chris Brown, Taylor Swift, George W. Bush, Anna Wintour, Donald Trump, Rihanna, Ray J, Amber Rose, Caitlyn Jenner, Bill Cosby, Chris Brown, Kim Kardashian, and West himself. What’s so controversial of a music video about a couple of A-list celebs, politicians, and stars? They are all lined up nude in an unusually large bed.
Although the single from his album The Life of Pablo was released in April earlier this year, the music video streamed exclusively on Tidal 2 days ago. News spread like wildfire as screengrabs and viral videos circulated the internet. Sparking an ingenious stream of titles like “Kanye West puts naked Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Trump, Cosby in new ‘Famous’ video”, “Kanye West nuzzles naked Taylor Swift, Donald Trump & Bill Cosby in Famous video”, and “Kanye West’s Famous video boasts bizarre orgy with Donald Trump and Taylor Swift”, you can bet it’s all the want-to-know click bait rage right now.
Here’s the question that’s on the tip of everyone’s tongue – did all 12 of these people actually consent and congregated to film this video together? Like all artists, Kanye West has been predictably coy about the visual stunts, and we are left to guess without a confirmed source. So far, only Chris Brown has responded to the debut of the video on his Instagram: “Why I gotta have the plumbers butt/ crack showing WAX figure?????. This nigga KANYE CRAZY, talented, but crazy ????”.
Our (strong) guess is that these are all hyper realistic wax figures or stunt doubles.
