Katy Perry is back with a new song for the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympics. She dropped the news on her Twitter sharing it with her 90 million followers. Titled as “Rise”, she explained the meaning of the song through an official statement – “I know that together we can rise above the fear – in our country, and around the world. I can’t think of a better example than the Olympic athletes, as they gather in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we ALL can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be. I hope this song can inspire us to heal, unite, and rise together.
I am honored that NBC Olympics has chosen to use it as an anthem before and during the Rio Games.” “Rise” will be used as the soundtrack by NBC for the 2016 Olympics coverage. The executive producer of NBC Olympics, Jim Bell shared – “Her music and message speak directly to the spirit of the Olympics and its athletes.”
Produced by Max Martin and written by Katy herself, Max Martin, Savan Kotecha and Ali Payam, the lyrics are powerful and empower listeners to rise for a better tomorrow. This inspiring track is currently available on Apple Music and iTunes.
