We are proud to announce that our very own Malaysian Designer Moto Guo has made it to the top 23 designers to be nominated for the LVMH prize. If you don’t already know, Moto Guo is a Malaysian-based menswear designer with an eponymous label officially launched in 2015. He goes by the tagline, “Not Just A Label” , with an aversion to shedding light on his personal self, Moto Guo chooses to have his work speak for itself. His designs are made unisex, and they showcase a little about his identity which is whacky yet dexterous.
The LVMH competition is for young fashion designers who are looking to make a statement in the fashion industry. They will be Competing for both a cash grant and a year long mentorship under the LVMH Group, the 23 shortlisted designers will meet a panel of 41 international fashion experts including both Founder and Editor-at-Large of Business of Fashion, Imran Ahmed and Tim Blanks, photographer Juergen Teller and former i-D cover star, Natalia Vodianova. Eight finalists will then be presented to the Jury, made up of J.W. Anderson, Nicolas Ghesquière, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, Phoebe Philo, Raf Simons and Riccardo Tisci, alongside Director and executive Vice President of Louis Vuitton, Delphine Arnault, Jean-Paul Claverie (advisor to Bernard Arnault and director of LVMH sponsorship) and Pierre-Yves Roussel (chairman and chief executive officer of the LVMH fashion division).
