“If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.” Few can attest to the last phrase of this old saying, and one of them is Elisa Khong. She finds her happiness and joy in helping others. She spent a significant amount of her fundamental years volunteering at Kechara Soup Kitchen, and is currently involved in various charitable projects she champions, all aimed in making life that much better for others. Giving back, in things great and small is second nature for Elis —the first step she and her husband Khailee Ng took to mark and celebrate their union was to have a ‘cloud wedding’ where the couple live streamed their small ceremony and guests attended the wedding from the comfort of their own homes. This enabled them to donate over RM1 million to charity—money that they would otherwise have spent on a lavish wedding.
Elisa doesn’t limit her helping hand to just humans—one of her most recent charitable projects was with My Forever Doggo, a platform that works with Malaysian shelters to promote adoption by snapping professional images of dogs, to help increase their chances of finding a forever home.
