Who runs the world? Girls!
The Lion King remake was officially launched recently and we ’90s kids couldn’t contain our excitement! Back in 1994, some of Hollywood greatest acts like Whoopi Goldberg (Shenzi), Moira Kelly (Nala) and Niketa-Calame Harris (Young Nala), were the voice talents for the lead characters in Disney’s 32nd Animated Feature Film, The Lion King.
This year’s Lion King remake has a list of Hollywood’s greatest female entertainment talents lending their voices to the show, such as Beyonce Knowles Carter (Nala), Alfre Woodard (Sarabi) and Amy Sedaris (elephant). In this age of women’s empowerment, we’re happy to see lots of strong female characters in the movie. Let’s take a look at the equally inspiring female entertainers playing these engaging characters.
#1 Beyonce Knowles Carter
Queen B Beyonce Knowles Carter has once again made headlines – this time as the voice of Nala, Simba’s mate in the upcoming Lion King movie. If you have followed her acting career, you’ll notice her versatility as an actress demonstrated in the varied portfolio of roles she has taken on – from Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002) and The Pink Panther (2006), to Dreamgirls (2006) and Obsessed (2009). It won’t be easy taking on the role Moira Kelly had voiced so well in the earlier edition of The Lion King, but we’re sure she’ll deliver a roaring performance!
