Purses at the ready – to mark the Lunar New Year, Longchamp has renewed its collaboration with one of China’s most influential fashion bloggers, Tao Liang or better known as Mr. Bags. Known for his fiery passion and encyclopaedic knowledge of luxury handbags, Mr Bags is a social media phenomenon followed by millions of “bagfans” on Weibo and WeChat.
Following last year’s hugely successful debut, Mr. Bags revisits Longchamp’s iconic Le Pliage® Cuir with a wonderful and whimsical interpretation for the Year of the Pig. For this exclusive collaboration, Longchamp’s Le Pliage® Cuir top handle bag in lambskin leather, in black, and metis leather, in pink, is the backdrop on which Mr. Bags conjures a pig in a series of bold white lines. Other details insisted upon by the savvy traveler include a zipped outside pocket (ideal for holding your passport and tickets) that is cleverly integrated into the drawing.
The collaboration does not stop here and extends to two further designs that includes a pouch with a zipped front pocket shaped like a pig’s snout, and a tote in transparent PVC with a pink, snout-shaped coin purse. The transparent PVC bag was inspired by one of Longchamp Creative Director Sophie Delafontaine’s early reinterpretations of the House icon, Le Pliage® Aquarium, that was launched in 1998 and was memorably pictured with a fish swimming around inside it!
The collection is a witty and adorable take on the Chinese zodiac sign that will put a smile on your face. We have our eyes set on pink to welcome the Lunar New Year!
