I recently celebrated my 30th birthday, and it finally hit me that I am no longer a 20-something year old. The big three zero is here and it’s time to take a shift in the beauty products I use. You must change your make-up and skincare brands at least once in a decade right? The lovely peeps from Sephora were kind enough to let me try 2 new beauty products, so here goes..
Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Fast Acting Serum, Peter Thomas Roth, RM578
I tend to frown a lot, when I’m thinking, writing, or having a conversation. So, I applied the serum at spots where I am starting to develop evident fine lines, mostly in between my brows and under my eyes. The cream feels light, fresh and cooling when applied to skin. The serum is fast acting and instantly tightens the skin when applied. The serum absorbs into the skin almost instantly, and I can see the results after just 3 days. My skin feels smother and looks more radiant.
Algenist Advanced Wrinkle Fighter Moisturizer, Algenist, RM319
Rich and creamy in texture, the cream instantly moisturised my skin. It easily absorbs into the skin when applied, leaving it smooth and hydrated. Perfect to use as a night cream just before heading to bed, the fragrant scent takes on a calming effect. This wrinkle fighter packed with powerful ingredients left my skin feeling smooth, moisturised and refreshed.

Kate Somerville Mega-C Dual Radiance Serum, RM365
The vitamin C serum has faint yellow tinge with mild citrusy fragrance. The omega serum is white in color and odorless. Both the serums have a very lightweight texture. Although the pumps were supposed to simultaneously dispense the serum, it didn’t work for me. Instead I had to press them individually most of the time and then mix them manually before applying to my face and neck.
The serum gets immediately absorbed in the skin and does not leave any greasiness behind after application. My skin felt very hydrated and moisturized. However, there is a wispy layer of greasiness when I wake up in the morning.
As per the product’s claim, I have been noticing that the sunspots on my skin have become lighter (came in handy after my island holiday!). My skin looks very even and healthy compared to the dull skin I was having a few weeks back, my skin tone has improved a lot. My skin feels smooth and very firm.
Arcona Advanced “A” Serum, RM296
This overnight anti-aging serum is light and diffuses easily onto the skin. The serum has a bright yellow colour and looks almost toxic, but fear not, what it does to the skin is amazing and its lemon-y scent will comfort you.
It’s perfect for dry skin, especially with our current weather in Malaysia. You don’t have to worry about the humidity as well, the serum does not leave any oily residue which is truly a lifesaver at this point of time.
After a couple of weeks, I noticed my face’s improvement towards its drier regions which also looks brighter. It not only soothes the skin, but also softens it and I can feel my skin being hydrated throughout the day.
