This is the Most Relaxing Song Ever Recorded
How often do we leap over and reach for our earphones the moment we’re thrown into a difficult situation that renders us feeling helpless? How many times have we relied on music to help us through stressful times or depressing relapses? Whether it’s hardcore heavy metal to drown out our anger and help do all the screaming for us, slipping into a chill state of mind with Enya tunes, jumping to Stromae, or having our eyes roll into the back of our heads to smoky Lana Del Rey or psychedelic FKA Twigs – music is the go-to stress-buster for us all.
Did you know there’s a song that researchers have found to be able to reduce you from being a jumpy, edgy ball of stress into having bones of a jellyfish? We’ve taken a listen and we agree that it literally is the perfect song to jam to when you’re in serious need of some de-stressing.
It is an eight-minute-and-nine-seconds song, “Weightless” by Marconi Union. According to Inc., the song had been composed with sound therapists, and it is to help with insomnia and stress reduction. It has also been reported by researchers at Mindlab International that the song managed to help reduce anxiety in listeners by up to a whopping 65% percent! Apparently every note in this ambient, atmospheric song has been carefully designed to help lower the heart rate and blood pressure, which will ultimately reduce the body’s level of the stress hormone called cortisol – as reported by The Telegraph.
Even though it isn’t a one-fix-all for serious disorders such as anxiety, depression, and the like (we wish!) – It certainly does lend a self-care helping hand in dealing with difficult times. This is especially good for millennials, who have been known to be a generation that’s stuffed to the brim with stress. Sometimes, we just all need to take a break.
It is strongly advised NOT to listen to this song while driving though, because it is that relaxing – and we would not suggest testing that theory!
