In a city where cliché tapas restaurants are a dime a dozen, Ohla Tapas & Cocktails sets itself above the rest as a tapas bar ruled by a fine dining sensibility
Located conveniently next to KL’s premium bottle service nightclub Providence, Ohla Tapas & Cocktails is the latest addition to The Intermark’s growing number of eateries and bars. Although Ohla’s narrow interior may ring more casual than formal with its long wooden bar and dim lighting, its refined tapas selection is in a league of its own.
Chef Toni Valero Ruiz, the man behind the restaurant’s well crafted menu, has worked at a string of Michelin star restaurants, including El Celler de Can Roca, which currently stands as the world’s best restaurant. “This is not your average tapas bar,” Chef Ruiz explains. “At Ohla, I serve food of fine dining standard but in a gastronomic bar environment, which is not as aggressive”. From its pan fried Foie Gras with confit egg to the perfectly grilled Wagyu striploin, there is a touch of class that Chef Ruiz brings to the table, one that is deeply steeped in his Catalan roots.
Most of Ohla’s dishes are cooked with care in their custom-made Josper, a machine that combines features of an oven and grill into one. If indulging in Ohla’s Michelin grade tapas is not enough to satisfy your taste buds, you will be pleased to hear that its bar, fronted by a team of esteemed mixologists, is a delight to explore before a night out in the town.
