Going Sugar Free for Your Mental Health

I’m sure most of you are gasping in horror at this diet, but cutting off sugar could help your mood levels in substantial ways. Sugar has been said to be the cause of fluctuating mood levels which severely affect an already depressed individual. A 2017 study had shown that people with higher sugar intake (67 grams or more) per day, is 23% more likely to develop depression or anxiety compared to those with lower sugar intake (less than 40 grams) per day. The next time you make your coffee, perhaps you should omit sugar altogether for a happier you.

Is Changing your Diet the Cure for Mental Health Issues?

Although studies have shown positive results, it should not be your only alternative. Psychological issues are profound and inconceivable to others who are perfectly healthy, so consulting a professional should be the first step to recovery. Thus, introducing a change of your diet works more as a supplement instead of the main course.
