Located in Menara Ken TTDI, lies an uber luxurious gym known as Babel Fit. Being the first of its kind here in Malaysia, this rooftop gym will surpass your expectations with its comfort and luxury.
Being a part of the media, I was rather lucky to have a gym preview and picked out a trial class to my liking. Of course that itself was a struggle for me as almost all the classes had caught my attention and excited me.
There are group classes for different purposes. E.g strength, mobility and the works. Each catering to what you’d like to work on. For those wanting to focus more on strength and power can join Kettlebell, Circuit, Body Weight, TRX and Sandbag. If stamina is something you’ve been struggling with then opt for Motion, HIIT and Indoor Cycling. They’ve also got you happy feet sorted with fun dance classes to pick from. Pilates, yoga,Budokon(a martial arts mix yoga workout- the first in Malaysia), bogafit (a workout in the pool which doesn’t require swimming). I kid you not, all you’ve got to do is balance atop of your board in the pool. Not as easy as it sounds but that one challenges and works on your core.
I couldn’t decide but I knew I wanted something relatively intense and picked out HIIT and R&R. Intense is what I got, but I was glad my trainer Jack took it easy on me as I had trouble with breathing. In mose High Intensity Interval classes, one has to go through a series of intense workouts quickly followed by short, active, recovery periods. It keeps your heart rate up.R&R is rest and recovery.
We started off with some stretching and Jack had me do some SMR (self myofascial release) which helped with the relaxation of my tight muscles where I was taught how to use a foam roller. After that, the actual workout had began where I was reintroduced to the Skill Mill, a curved treadmill which I had a quick try as soon as I got in the studio. The Skill Mill and a couple of other equipment are by Technogym which can allow you to easily track your workout with the scanning of a QR code/app on your FitBit etc. Really cool. The Skill Mill is rather multifunction as you can do various moves on it other than just running/walking on it. It was back and forth from the Skill Mill to off the Skill Mill with some squats etc with light dumbells.
Once my session was over I headed to the cafe/lounge where I was treated to latte and a delicious grilled cheese chicken sandwich and a beetroot juice. Babel Fit’s collaboration with Eight 8 Ounce Coffee allows you to have a hot/cold beverage either before or after your workout.
After which I explored Babel and took heaps of photos. The place is nothing short of amazing from its breathtaking views, state-of-the-art-equipments (Technogym, Rogue, Powerplate and many more), 3 studios, garden rooftop lounge, outdoor infinity pool, a beautiful gym space and not to forget the luxurious changing rooms.
I was honestly in total awe of this gym and can’t wait for them to be officially opened,
In the meantime feast your eyes on these beautiful pictures of the interior of the gym.
