From working in London’s Selfridges to starring in campaigns for brands that the luxury department store carries, Ella Balinska is going places—fast. With the reboot of Charlie’s Angels as her first lead role in a major movie since starring in the Sky teen drama The Athena, the adventuresome actor talks to us about her hilarious cast members, her quest for knowledge, and how the stunt moves in Charlie’s Angels felt like second nature to her
Prior to joining the cast of Charlie’s Angels, Ella Balinska was already an athlete who threw javelin for Team London.
“Whenever I had to do stunts, it never felt like I really have to really try to get it right—it kind of just felt natural and I didn’t really have to think if it makes sense.
Ella has a playlist for everything.
“I love listening to music—music really effects me. I have playlists for nearly every character I had ever played. And beyond that, I have playlists for moods that I am feeling, I have a flight playlist, I have a workout playlist, I have an ‘I’m getting ready, and I feel like I’m going to have a great day today’ playlist!”
She had two playlists for Charlie’s Angels.
“There was one for like, when we were all in the trailer, just having a good time and they were all just like fun, you know, with whatever the song of the moment was, kind of playlist. But for my character Jane, the songs are more edgy, but interestingly enough, there were a lot of classical music as well, because I feel like she enjoys that headspace of pure clarity. So she would do a whole analysis on a piece of paper, while she has Mozart playing in the background, in that sort of contrast. She would also be cool to listen to Radiohead, or Muse.”
Ella started her venture into the world of acting in the 2015 comedy thriller Junction 9, followed by a handful of short films and series.
She also played the lead role in Sky TV’s teen drama The Athena. Charlie’s Angels marks Ella’s major movie debut, and her upcoming horror film Run Sweetheart Run is in post-production
She does her own stunts.
Ella’s role in Charlie’s Angels required her to do a number of choreographed fight scenes, and she loved performing every one of them.
