What do you do when dad’s the founder and chairman of private equity firm Tembusu Partners and mom is Lim Hwee Hua, a former (and the first woman) cabinet minister in Singapore, and both of them are Cambridge University graduates? Why, you make a difference by creating a name for yourself in your own way, of course! A self-described ‘quirky kid’, Rebekah went through her youth feeling the need to figure out what she wanted to do. Even though she cited mom as her role model, she didn’t want to follow in her footsteps as she liked other things – like creative writing, producing documentaries and charity work. Co-founder of The Social Co., a youth-led organisation dedicated to solving social issues in Singapore, Rebekah has found her calling in making a difference and helping others create better lives for themselves. Through the organisation’s first project, 50 for 50 in 2014 as well as its subsequent project, Pledge It Forward in 2017, she and her team have raised almost S$5 million and raised awareness on more than 90 lesser-known local charities that would otherwise not be highlighted. In 2018, Rebekah hosted and interviewed professionals in a healthcare documentary that told of the state of healthcare in the country and was aired on Channel News Asia.
