We had the Rat Pack, The Brat Pack and even the Frat Pack but Hollywood is being run these days by a different wave of famous friends who love to get up to their own set of mischief. Take a look at the new tribes taking over the LA scene.
The Brit Pack
Members Robert Pattinson, Tom Sturridge, Andrew Garfield, Jesse Eisenberg.
Made up of primarily Brit actors who are hitting the scene in Hollywood in a big way, the leaders of this pack are led by long-time friends Robert Pattinson and Andrew Garfield. The two go way back and both vied for the role of Spiderman.
Thrown into the fold is also actor Tom Sturridge who is also an old pal of the pair. Then when Jesse Eisenberg starred with Garfield in The Social Network, they hit it off and Eisenberg became an honorary Yankee member of the pack. The four enjoy hanging out in NYC when the Brits are in town and other times, members of the pack hang out by taking walks out in London when they are not occupied with their starlet girlfriends.
Other members of the pack who hail from the British isle include Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Les Miserables star Eddie Redmayne and Skyfall actor Ben Whishaw.
The Teen Idol Pack
Members: Justin Bieber, Connor Cruise, Jaden Smith
What happens when the progeny of Hollywood royalty meet a pop sensation? One hell of a modern day Rat Pack of course!
The sons of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, Will and Jada-Pinkett Smith have all teamed up to form a rat pack of every teenage girl’s dreams and one that exists mainly to hang out at parties, premieres and on occasion the sell-out concerts by one of the pack members.
It’s only natural that the three would congregate seeing as leader of the pack Bieber is in the same industry as Jaden Smith and the two have even collaborated on a number of tracks together. Connor Cruise made his Hollywood debut in the film Red Dawn but seems more content pursuing a career filling up dance halls as a DJ and has even produced a track. Connor and Jaden have also been friends for years as their famous Dads are notoriously good pals and so with the three bumping into each other at music industry parties, it was only a matter of time before they clicked and started what seems to be glitzy life-long friendships.
The Comedy Pack
Members: Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jason Segel, James Franco, Jay Baruchel
The core of this pack is the friendship between Seth Rogen and his long-time creative collaborator Evan Goldberg where they’ve written the films Superbad and This Is The End. In this film, an apocalyptic horror-comedy-satire which finds Rogen and Jay Baruchel playing themselves (Baruchel in essence is a stand-in for Goldberg), the duo explore the struggles of friendship amidst a doomsday setting. The cast includes other frequent-flyers in the Rogen ship including James Franco, Jonah Hill, Jason Segel and even Emma Watson and Channing Tatum.
In the past Franco and Rogen have starred in stoner films including Pineapple Express and Knocked Up while Hill and Baruchel are alumni from the Judd Apatow comedy film school. The funny men hang out socially and soon became known as the next-generation Frat Pack that take after that other group of funny men by way of Ben Stiller and co.
“For the most part, we just liked hanging out,” says James of his Freaks and Geeks-era friendship with Rogen.
The Girl Brat Pack
Members: Kylie Jenner, Willow Smith, Hailey Baldwin
It’s not just the boys who have all the fun these days, girls, especially the offspring of famous Hollywood celebrities are having their day in the sun too. Rumoured to be the new Brat Pack, Kylie Jenner (of the Kardashian dynasty), Willow Smith (Will and Jada Pinkett’s daughter) and Hailey Baldwin (her dad is Stephen Baldwin) have been setting gossip sites rife in Hollywood for their bratty behaviour by snubbing fans whenever they make public appearances.
