New year, new resolutions, and mine included getting my act together and start living a healthy lifestyle. Not easy i must say, with temptations of delicious six-course meals when im travelling abroad, or luncheons with clients where i simply can’t say no to an aged-steak grilled to perfection on a bed of mashed potatoes. But i told myself, enough is enough. Time to order the more…healthier options. So to start it off we had our share of healthy lunches being delivered to our office for us to review. Not bad i must say. But i needed something more drastic- Juice cleanse diet.
Yes, i must admit, i was never a fan of juices. Don’t get me wrong, i do love my occasional apple juice for breakfast or a mango smoothie once in a while, but its not what i would typically order with my lunch. So when i decided to review a cold-pressed juice cleanse diet from Impressed, i thought well, let’s see if i can be coaxed into joining the other side.
I started with the 3-day diet of six 100% raw fruits and vegetables (no water, no sugar, no preservatives) per day. (That’s a whole lotta juices i must say!) Priced at rm65 a set, they have the beginner set, intermediate and advance, and well, i went for the advance set. I mean c’mon, might as well go all the way right?
The first drink of the day was the Rise & Shine which consisted of Alkaline water, Cayenne pepper, Agave nectar and lemon. It had a spicy kick to it at the end notes, but was considerably alright. I must say, i liked this mixture best among the juices throughout! It was easy to take, but had an acquired taste that not all would appreciate. But i did. It was a great way to kick-start my diet and my metabolism. (yes similar to Beyonce’s famous cayenne pepper mix)
Next was two bottles of G1, which consisted of celery, cucumber, spinach, green apple and lettuce. Well, as one would say, it is always best to start your day with green juices, so i did (after my rise & shine drink). I had to say, it was pleasantly sweet and totally fresh. Quite easy to finish up within just a few gulps. Benefits? it prevents high blood pressure (totally need that especially when you work in a high-stress level environment), aids with weight loss (yay, an added bonus!), and gives you a great glow to your skin.
The fourth juice of the day was I1 which consisted of Green apples and carrots- an earthy sweetness that’s attuned to your health as much as you are. Yum. I liked this combination and it tasted just as good as it looked. Take note that an explosion of health benefits occurs when apples and carrots combined. This is due to the immune system being heightened by an army of antioxidants that ignite stronger disease-fighting capabilities and cellular protection of body systems.
The next two juices to take when the day ends are two bottles of the same juices i had in the morning: the G1. My conclusion? i was amazed at how easy it was to consume so much juices in a day and not get tired of it. It was a little hard on the first day (wait, let me not lie, it was difficult. No meat for three days? like how is that even possible? but it was.) Things were smoother the next two days.
The next day i woke up craving juice. Im not kidding, i actually looked forward to having my mix of cayenne pepper and lemon (Rise & Shine) to start off my day, with a bottle of G1 while driving to work. But it was over. Three days straight. And well, i actually wouldn’t mind doing this once every two weeks. And perhaps a bottle a day in between. Impressed had totally converted me (perhaps partially) into loving raw fruit and vegetable juices. And yes, i was totally impressed.
